  • Liaising with Project Team, including architects / engineers/ contractors. Review progress, and report to client team. Key deliverables being reported includes schedule, budget. Capture change / risk, and liaise with relevant stakeholders.

  • New Skills Learnt: - Contractor / Consultant Management (Management Skills) - Leadership Skills - Microsoft Office skills development (includes Excel, Word, Powerpoint). - Stakeholder Management skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is very enjoyable. The business has developed a new framework, which facilitates all employees, including apprentices to review their career path, and if you are not enjoying the programme, the business is very open to moving you to a pathway within the business which may be better suited to you.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well structured. Training Schedule provided by the Emerging Talent Team. Key support provided through a "Buddy" system - and due to the large nature of the business, other apprentices in other cohorts are open to giving advise where necessary.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Due to the way the programme is well-structured, the support the business gives is above and beyond! Colleagues are very supportive.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Due to the "Buddy" system in place - if you have any queries re. qualifications, you can reach out to your "buddy" who is normally an apprentice in another cohort. Additionally, there are reviews which take place with your Line Manager, to ensure that you are receiving the right support towards your qualification.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification I am completing helps provide a base level of knowledge, which is aiding me in completing my role. Having come with no experience in construction, the qualification comes with a Built Environment background, which aids in my day to day role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Networking groups are provided within the business, which helps those coming from a minority background in construction (e.g ethnic minorities network, women network, ex-military network). There are also social activities provided by Sectors.

  • Yes

  • Mace is a company which will provide you with the experience to accelerate your career growth. Opportunities are provided within the business; and due to the large nature of the business, you are provided with the opportunity to network with some of the best professionals in the industry.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
  • Make sure that you look into key Mace values when applying to the business. If you are applying with no construction background - don't let that hinder your application. Training & your qualification will assist with knowledge required.
