My role as a childcare practitioner involves a daily routine with the children including snack time, wake and shake and activities set for them. I have to observe and track the child's progress and see where they can improve by making plans. I am responsible for making food, setting activities and uploading pictures of the children so that their parents can see what they did throughout the day.
I have learnt multiple skills such as learning the proper PPE when preparing food or changing nappies. I have learnt first aid and received my paediatric first aid certificate, I know how to use a defibrillator and know how to perform CPR. I understand the importance of safeguarding and whistle-blowing. I have learnt why it is important to include British values in every educational system.
I am enjoying this programme because it is allowing me to move at my own pace, learning in the way that's best for me. Assignments can be given at a steady pace or all at once and I am able to do oral discussions rather than verbal assignments. I also enjoy the practical learning a lot. Being able to work in the environment I want helps me complete my assignments and gives me an insight of my future job role as a childcare practitioner.
My programme is structured very well. All assignments are relevant to my practical progress and enough time is given to complete work.
My employer gives me enough time to complete all of my work and supports me if I need extra help completing my assignments.
My training provider responds quickly and explains everything very well. I always turn to my training provider with questions about my work or about the course.
It gives me all the information I will need as a childcare practitioner and helps me on a day to day basis. All information is relevant and beneficial for me as a leaner.
