Throughout the day, I work with children aged between 4 months old and 4 years old (I mainly work with 3 year olds though), helping them with their speech, building relationships, their emotional and physical wellbeing, working with parents to best care for children and their really a childs development in general.
During my time at my current workplace, I have really developed on my patience. Working with children has helped me to become a lot more patient throughout the day. I t has also taught me how to better handle my time and be more proactive to ensure things get done when there is time available.
I really enjoy my programme. It has taught me a lot of new skills and also helped me develop some older ones as well. I have met a lot of new people who are always willing to help with my studies and my tutor has been amazing at giving help and advice where needed.
My programme is extremely well structured. I always have dedicated time to do my work and my tutor works with me to find an appropriate deadline for each activity she sets. I always have appropriate time to do my work and so will be able to finish my programme on the date planned.
My employer always makes sure I have enough time to do my studies whilst at work and also that I have appropriate access to any resources I may need. all my colleagues are extremely helpful and are always available to offer me any help or advice that I may need.
My training provider is always available when needed. When I am in need of help, I can send an email to my tutor and depending on when I email her, she typically replies within an hour or so. Before each new piece of work, my tutor goes through it all with me and allows me to ask any questions before I start as well.
My qualification has given me all the necessary information and confidence i need to appropriately do my job. with my training, i have gained confidence in areas like planning activities, health and safety and working with children in distress. with my training and qualification, i find myself asking less questions instead trusting my own thoughts.
my work has a wide range of extra curriculars that we can attend if we choose to. there is information for each of these different activities on our staff room notice boards. we also have regular room trips were the staff members of each room get together out side of work.
Yes
i really enjoy working at taplins and have noticed my confidence has grown massively since having started working here. i have built and developed in lots of different skills, like my patience, time management, health and safety and working with others. the staff are also all very friendly and helpful.
some advice i would give to others applying would be to not be worried to ask questions to other staff members and know that every one will have different strength areas and no one knows every thing but there will also be someone available to help when you need them
