  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt SO much - currently I am learning more about my style as a leader and how to work with a range of people who have differencing communication styles. This is helping me build my emotional intelligence, which I had thought was good before undertaking this new challenge. I am also enjoying the mentoring opportunities to discussion with senior manages about my experiences and reflecting on what works and what doesn't so I'm prepared for the next time the situation arises.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Totally enjoying the programme - I love my sessions with my tutor and find they are delivered around how I want to work and how I learn. It means I walk away from my sessions thinking I've got some value from them. The value I can then take and pass on to my team and colleagues.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Currently its very well organised and structured. My training plan holds a wealth of information around the curriculum and forward planning of my sessions. What I find really helpful is the flexible approach in my delivery, for instance I needed support around how to hold critical conversations - this was then delivered as my next session despite not being the planned session.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Full support from my employer as they embrace and value apprenticeships - I feel time is put aside for me to discuss my apprenticeship with my employer - I even have reoccurring meetings with Senior Managers to help me through my apprenticeship - digging into their wealth of knowledge and experiences which is fantastic for my time log.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Full support so far - my tutor is always an email aware as well our monthly catch up and sessions. I even have the option of group online sessions, which gives me more exposure to building an apprentice network with others across England. My provider also does a lot for work around safeguarding which is delivered, in part, through cultivating interesting and relevant conversations about what is happening in my local area - it's nice for it to not all be about my programme standard.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Totally - I feel like I would be setting myself to fail in taking on my leadership role, without my apprenticeship. It's given me so much more confidence to make make thoughtful and appropriate decisions with my team. It's one of the best things I think I could have done when taking on this role, as a person new to leadership.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes lots - we undertaken regular smaller community based activities - such as yoga classes, fitness classes and guitar lesson classes. We also hold meetings to just have a catch up with colleagues. This happens both in chatrooms and in virtual meetings. As a remote business there is a big effort to meet up in person when we can and the whole business looks forward to our face to face meetings.
