Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students have the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally by collaborating with teachers and other support staff aswell as building positive relationships with students.
Working as a teacher assistant in a PRU offers valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth, as you learn to support and empower students who may face significant challenges in their educational journey. Some skills i’ve picked up and developed are adaptability, de-escalation techniques, reflective practice, emotional intelligence.
Like any work place, there are days which aren’t the best but I’ve made bonds with both staff and students who have taught me a lot through this apprenticeship. Since it’s a PRU, every day is different which makes the environment somewhere where you learn new skills everyday.
The staff from Inspire have been available for whenever I’ve needed help and I have regular meetings to ensure i’m up to speed.
Yes
I believe that the staff from Inspire have been nothing but helpful and friendly, I struggle with writing and reading and they have made sure to give me that extra support.
Never feel shy to ask for help, they will always be there even if they need to break it down for you. Help them help you, working with them helps you get through trainings and coursework quicker.
