As an early years practitioner, I look after the children. I serve them their food and supervise them whilst they are eating, make sure that their learning area is safe, change dirty clothes etc. Help them with toileting. Do handovers with parents etc.
I have learned lots of new skills and continue to learn more on a daily basis. I studied health and social care in college so already knew quite a lot surrounding the role, and also did some work experience in childcare.
I enjoy my programme to a high level. Some of the webinars that i do are on topics of things that i have previously learned so it is nice to refresh my knowledge on them. But with the webinars that i have not previously learned about, i get to learn new things and use them in my day to day practise.
The programme is well structured in a sense that, webinars are not too frequently so you have time to learn. Meetings with my personal tutor are the same and i can do most of my work in my own time as long as i get it done.
My manager is very supportive and helpful when it comes to my apprenticeship. I can speak to her about any issues i have and can ask any questions that i have.
I wish i could have more support and find it easier to get into contact with my training provider when i need help. I am confident that they are guiding me towards gaining my qualification but wish they were more responsive to any queries.
I will have more knowledge on my work role and will understand how to react to situations with the children/parents.
There are staff meetings, sporting activities etc.
Yes
Because i am learning a lot of knowledge that helps with my job role and will support me towards my future goals.
It is harder than expected but so worth it in the long run. It will get you the qualifications that you need for your childcare career.
