  • Over the course of this apprenticeship I will learn to fit a variety of electrical systems and components. Over the course of my first year, I have been at city college Plymouth full time, learning the basics of my trade and building a rounded knowledge of the engineering world.

  • I have developed a deeper understanding of complex systems and work methods. I have also bettered my social skills as I must work with others on a variety of projects.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Overall I thoroughly enjoy my programme. I feel comfortable in my environment and I’m confident in my work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme has a good complexity arc and my trainers push us in a supportive manner. I would prefer work that is more accurate to the environment but I believe that the skills we are learning are still relevant.

  • My employer is helpful in most cases and will provide assistance if needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider has created an environment where I feel comfortable asking for assistance. I feel that am well supported in my journey to my qualification.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my training provider has performed well in keeping my training relevant and suitably challenging.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are occasional activity’s but I am not able to attend as I am not able to miss any training.

  • Yes

  • They are a well funded company that will not sacrifice your well-being to cut corners.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock?
  • I would suggest to present themselves in a way that is relevant to the role.
