I am a Payroll and Pensions Apprentice at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. Day-to-day my role includes new starter, mover and leaver checks, SSP letter completion, sending of leaver forms to the pension provider, completion of voluntary deduction reports, report running at each stage, among other duties.
With MBKB I have furthered my knowledge of the payroll cycle, alongside consolidating my knowledge of legislation and the types of employees a business can employ. These aid me in my daily duties and allow me to better understand the tasks I do each day.
I am really enjoying the course so far; my tutor is excellent and has extensive knowledge in each aspect of payroll. The material on the course is thoroughly detailed and covers a lot of areas that are involved in my job role.
The programme is very well organised, I am sent materials prior to the sessions, allowing me to prepare accordingly.
My employer is very supportive, I have a designated day each week, in which I am able to focus solely on my coursework.
MBKB have been very supportive, whenever I’ve needed assistance or clarification on a topic, my tutor has been happy to help.
The course, so far, has given me a better understanding of the tasks that I undertake every day, it also enables me to answer more queries that we receive.
I’ve taken part in a disability awareness day; a small team of our apprentices planned and oversaw the event.

I would recommend applying, as it is a secure and pleasant working environment.
