The insight programme involved talks from partners at KPMG Manchester or close offices about their roles at the firms and how they got to the position they are in. We had group activities to apply the learning we had made about KPMG’s values and present our solutions to others.
I learnt a lot about the skills required in my application process for when I was to apply for KPMG or other firms. I had the opportunity to speak to staff about what they see as important and new joiners about how they approached their applications.
I really enjoyed my discovery programme at KPMG. It have the opportunity to meet like minded people who had similar goals. I was able to network with a range of people from students I could be joining with to partners I could be working with on client projects. Without this experience, I don’t believe I would have been as prepared and confident in doing my application process.
My experience was very well organised. There was a clear planner of what sessions we would be doing so I was aware of what I needed during that day. Activities flowed from one through to the other without long breaks needed.
The whole programme revolved around KPMG’s values and how they are interlinked with success at the firm. All staff spoke highly and openly about the culture within KPMG, this was one of my main reasons for choosing KPMG when receiving my offer.
I was already very set on what I wanted to do as a career, audit. The discovery programme allowed me to confirm my desire to become an Auditor as well as provide a better insight into what my career may look like and where I can go with audit.
I was reimbursed for my travel to the event, this was important and I was travelling over 2 hours to get there.
We had plenty of breaks to speak with staff who has just run sessions or new starters that were invited in. It gave me and many other a good opportunity to learn and connect with other who we may being joining the firm with.
Yes
Having only been at KPMG for 3 I already felt like part of the team despite being months away from hearing any news about an offer to join for the new cohort. I felt comfortable to speak and make mistakes.
Read up on the history of the firms and what the firm prides themselves in doing. KPMG views its values as the most important aspect of working with them, being able to learn these and how you show it have shown them is also key.
