I am an associate who works on many different clients in teams of auditors. We reviewed and test financial statements to ensure that they are true and fair as well as supporting business to grow. My responsibilities change within each assignment, however we are given the responsibility of sections to test within the financial statements.
I have learnt so much in the last year it is unreal. The support my firm gives me cannot be beat and I would not believe how far I have come if you had asked a year ago. I am studying alongside work for my ACCA which is fully incorporated into work timetabling and supported by the firm. The day to day experience really helps with this as well as my confidence/social skills due to interacting with a team and clients on a daily business.
I love what I do and the people I work with. They have all been where I am now and are happy to help. It is a great opportunity to have at such a young age. The culture is very people orientated. You really are looked after and supported to grow how you want to.
I feel more valued everyday as I learn new skills. The positive feedback received from others only builds on this and I would like to stay and learn more for as long as I can! I have been involved in many projects and have already been working overseas for the firm. An instinct for growth is a great thing to have.
I feel the structure of the programme is good to fit around the busy seasons at work. I feel we could have a little more study time incorporated into the working day and perhaps some more support from managers on this rather than just the work side would be good.
Kaplan are extremely useful and are always around to help if we are stuck. Their attitude is that we put in as much as we get out and I like that.
I receive regular feedback and recognition which I think is great for my confidence. Some more support from work during exams would be nice.
I think we are treated extremely fairly as a staff member still in training. I do believe that after you qualify this may not be the case.
I get involved in many local schools which is a passion of mine and there is also social events occurring. If there is extra training then someone will always be supporting you.
Yes
It is a fantastic place to work with real people looking after each other. It is hard work but you are gratefully rewarded and showered with knowledge.
Be yourself and be true to your word. Express your thoughts and do not be afraid to admit you do not understand. You are not expected to know everything already. Your instinct and willingness to grow will help you soar.
