Ruby, C# and terraform programming with a focus on security for an online injury tracker for sports teams, I also occasionally conduct small scale penetration tests.
Although some basic programming and management skills have been effectively communicated, specifically security skills have not been conveyed effectively using written assessments rather than the more practical approaches used to convey other skills.
I enjoy the practical work, however an over reliance on essay style assessments and shallow practical lab work are less enjoyable. A focus on longer practical course work, especially when it comes to the security module, building towards a bigger task within labs would be more enjoyable. Such as conducting penetration tests on a know vulnerable machine and creating a report, focusing on a specific vulnerability and how it can be exploited in each lab.
The programme is broadly well organised, lectures are given each week on specific subjects and the moodle dashboard helps to organise deadlines and resources.
My employer generally gives me a high level of support, providing additional time off to complete university work.
There is generally a large amount of support from my training provider, lecturers are always available to aid with assessment work.
Some aspects of the initial modules have been helpful although the security teaching has not been helpful in providing security benefit to my company and I have learned significantly more on the topic from my employer.
