Managing a housekeeping department and maintenance department allocate rooms then work out the girls work sheets using the genie then I check on social media for scores and also on spotlight which is where the guests leaves their reviews. I am always coaching my team so they can work to the best of their ability I am also always looking for maintenance tasks to keep the hotel looking good
I have learnt how I should listen to my team more I have also learnt that I don’t need to micro manage them all the time I have also completed some virtual classrooms I did one today on conflict management and learnt that what ever attitude I go into the meeting with the team member is likely to mimic that
This is the 2nd apprenticeship I have done I do find it harder than the last one which it should be but my coach is very supportive I can message him anytime I need help . The apprenticeship is making me look at my job role in a new light and I am enjoying my job again as I felt I was getting stuck in a rut
I do like the way this apprenticeship is structured much better than the last one as everything is found in one place and is much easier to follow
I don’t get much support from my employer I do most of the work at home and that can be quite difficult sometimes I feel we should get a planned in time to do apprenticeship work as it’s really hard when you are on housekeeping as every single minute is accounted for and we are always being to to save labour I think the company should put a set amount of labour put to one side for apprenticeships
As I have said previously the couch is really good but the process of actually getting on the apprenticeship seems to take ages and the meet the coach is very confusing as you don’t meet your coach
I said previously that since I have started the apprenticeship I have started to think of ways I can improve my role
No
Yes
Whitbread on a hole is a good place to work everyone is treated equal and fair and the rate of pay is higher than other hotel groups
Just be yourself and tell the truth
