I am a trainee dental nurse. Part of my role includes providing chair side assistance for the dentist or clinician. I also work on reception and in the decontamination room.
I have learnt many skills such as better communication, efficient, I’m better at prioritising and working well with others.
I am finding my programme very beneficial however there is a lot of work and sometimes difficult and stressful to catch up if you get behind. However at the moment I am enjoying.
I think it is well organised once you understand how to use the information platform (smart assessor).
I receive lots of support from my employer and have an appointed mentor who helps me if I need it.
I have lots of help from my training provider as I have a portfolio assessor who is very helpful and supports me very well by catching up on how I am doing regularly and then give me additional help if I am struggling.
I feel I have gained much more information which has therefore given me more confidence in practice.
My work does social outings together occasionally which is very nice to do.
Yes
They are very helpful and informative which then helps in my job role.
Don’t be afraid to ask if you don’t understand something or fall behind. Also try to make sure to stay ahead with your coursework as it is very helpful when you have other assignments assigned.
