I am a payroll and pensions apprentice and this involves checking pay slips, adding AEO's/DEA's/fines ect to our employees deductions if requested. supporting our employees by handling payroll and pensions forms and query's via email or phone.
I have learnt many new skills including how to correctly work out tax, NI and pension contributions from someone's wage. I have learnt all about the different types of parental leave and how to input this onto the system. I have learnt about salary sacrifices and detachment of earnings orders.
I enjoy the program very much. It has given me the opportunity to extend my knowledge on payroll and pensions individually but also as a group. I enjoy the creativity and freedom I can have whilst doing my assignments.
The program is extremely well organized. I believe this is partly because of my tutor who always ensures that everything is ready for our sessions. The structure of the program was known to me for the whole 18 months in advance and is very statically placed to link with the activity's I do in the workplace.
I receive lots of support from my employer. They respond ask to any queries or questions that I may have and always provide constructive criticism on my assignments and allow me to the time to perfect my work.
The support from my tutor is some of the best support I have. She responds very fast to my emails and even helped me get my student discount. She is very knowledgeable about payroll having worked in that profession herself to I believe this helps when she is teaching.
I feel that my my qualification links in well with my role. What I learn though my training provider I can then use in my work place and know that the information I have learnt is accurate.
As an apprentice i have joined in with apprentice event to meet new people and to help raise money for charities.
Yes
I would recommended them as their tutors have experience in the field that they are teaching. They are friendly and easy to approach and provide excellent learning.
Nothing to advise, I'm sure future applicants will settle in just as well as what I have.
