  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a developer and we maintain the applications of the university and solve problems on a day-to-day basis. Sometimes there are a lot of problems but sometimes, there is none.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my coding skills further and learn a new programming language. I have also improved my communication skills as I have to send emails and talk to my colleagues and mentor.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme during the live sessions as I do it at home and practice my coding skills on my own personal computer. I also enjoy when I have a project for the workplace.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very organized. There was an issue before where all of us apprentice are all in the live session and the teacher was not there and we were all waiting for an hour. QA did resolve the issue quickly and rescheduled the live session.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive all the support that they can give me. They give me projects that I can do and use for my apprenticeship programme and help me out when I am stuck somewhere.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Honestly, not much because I know what I need to do and don't need much support. However, when I am confused with something, I ask them about it and they give me the information I need and gave me a template to use for it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • They do give me information to become a better developer. They give me the tools that I can use in the workplace maybe implement some of them here.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a lot of extra-curricular activities to get involved at the workplace since it is a university. I do play basketball every now and then because my friend handles the training for the team.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Teesside University to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a very good workplace. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. It is also a very familiar place for me as I attended here to do my Bachelor's degree.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Teesside University?
  • Be yourself and always be ready to help out. Also, never forget to ask questions when you are stuck or confused about something.
