My role is analysing the current performance of our supply chain for a variety of insurance products whilst supporting the analytics activities within personal lines products. My work is regular reporting analysis on the performance of our Supply Chain, speaking to Supply Chain Management about the performance of their suppliers, emerging trends and current patterns.
I have learnt how to use Python, R, Power Bi and Orange and how to development and shape data models including transofrmation and cleansing, create visualisations how to create analysis from these applications, along with different analysis methods and modelling techniques during the apprenticeship, I have also developed Excel by learning more about some of the functions within Excel and how to conduct statistical analysis, trend analysis and logistical analysis along with developing my SQL skills.
I enjoyed the learning elements of the course. The combination of interactive initial learning then trying out what I have learnt was great. the initial interactivity really helped me to learn this quickly and works for my learning style really well. Learning new tools and methods was highly beneficial to help develop my career. QA were excellent during my EPA prep and I really knew what was expected of me during this process.
The course is really well paced and structured. You have plenty of time to get the learning in and allow this to embed into your memory. The structure feels like it progresses well learning simpler elements of the program at the start, building your knowledge and skills,, developing the skills and confidence to effectively progress through the apprenticeship. You have enough time through out the apprenticeship to complete the projects following the online learning and live sessions. I highly recommend that you and your leader speak regularly about this to help with planning your projects to help meet the requirements of the apprenticeship as I had points where the current projects I had on were either too small ort too large for the apprenticeship, this is particularly relevant for the end point assessment.
My employer was fantastic during the course of my apprenticeship. I had all the time needed and could take myself offline to be able to work without distractions in a dedicated time slot was really helpful. I also had the support that I needed and developed a network of people within the business who could help me with various different aspects, having a group of people who could help where I needed help, which was particularly helpful when it came to data engineering and data science aspects of the course.
The I feel that I had the right level of support during the apprenticeship and that I felt I could approach my coaches when ever I had a query. They were always keen to help and this always felt very comfortable.
The apprenticeship has helped me to better understand how to present data and tell the story of what the data is telling me. I am now confident that my data models are going to produce the answers that I need sooner and I have more confidence when presenting to stakeholder because I have learnt how to model the data correctly.
As my team is virtual and spread out over the country, the extra-curricular parts are limited due to availability of team members along with cost challenges. There are professional networking events available. We don't formally have sports team, however a lot of RSA staff play in teams with other RSA staff members.
