I am a people manager of 23 colleagues, in the Natural Resources division. It is a wide ranging role from learning and development needs to the team, trouble shooting queries, complaint handler and providing guidance on income forecasting.
Valuable new coaching skills, which I believe has benefitted the coachees internally and is providing a basis for a coaching culture in my team and the wider business.
I find it fascinating and the catch ups with my BPP Coach Mentor and additional learning sessions provided in addition are really enlightening.
The course learning sessions are mapped out from the start, you can select which of the 3 cohorts works for you, the sessions are highly interactive and over the course of the year; I have made some really great peer contacts.
My employer is a big advocate of Apprenticeships and I am an Apprenticeship Stakeholder for our programmes, hence my interest in broadening my knowledge with the support of my company.
Monthly formal check ins for an hour, a monthly 2 hour training session with our trainer/coach and I have my coach mentors contact details if I need them to run through any questions I have. In addition my coach mentor provides additional sessions, to learn, develop and practice.
I feel I am a better line manager, with better active listening skills and when chairing team calls, ensuring all colleagues feel empowered and have time to talk without disruption.
I am a member of the local Chartered Insurance Institute, so attend different training events to maintain my qualification.
