Trainee Dental Nurse. I work at a dental practice as a dental nurse which involves assisting the dentist in different procedures. As well as this I have a study day every week where I attend an online webinar and have support sessions with my personal tutor.
I started off not knowing a lot about the dentistry field but I feel like I know a lot more now. Improved a lot of skills and learnt a few new skills too. Some of the skills I have improved and learnt are Communication skills, record keeping skills, interpersonal skills.
I really enjoy the programme as it keeps you busy in a good way. Each assignment is relevant to what I am learning whilst working and the ay it is taught is very structured too.
The programme is very well organised. I am aware of what part of the programme I am on, how long I have left, what I am expected of each week and which goals I am supposed to work towards.
I receive a lot of support from my employer . I am given my recommended study time every week without fail and if for any reason I have missed any I am always given time to catch up. My tempdent assessor is also very supportive as all my work is marked on time and in an orderly fashion.
I receive a lot of support from my training advisor. My assessor is always on hand to speak to whenever I want whether that be via email , a support call or even a text message. She makes sure I know what my targets for the month are and what is expected of me. All my work is marked on time and extra work to help me work towards my qualification is given to me.
Working on m qualification alongside doing practical work helps me perform a lot better in my role as I learn a lot about why we do certain things the way we do them. It helps me more with the theory sides of working and encourages me to find new ways to carry out different tasks.
Not at the moment but my workplace is looking towards more extra-curricular activities.
