I work in an enzyme engineering laboratory so am involved in producing proteins and mutating enzymes. My role involves both laboratory-based work and computer work, where I write up experiments and analyse data.
I have learnt many new laboratory techniques that I had never even heard of before. I have also developed my knowledge behind some of these skills.
I really enjoy this job and the way my apprenticeship is delivered. It has a clear structure and a good workload and all the people I work with are really friendly and supportive.
I have a clear short and long-term plan for my apprenticeship and know what I am doing and what is coming up next for me to learn.
My employer is really supportive. I have regular catch-ups and feel that I can ask for help or say when something has confused me.
A fair amount - most emails are replied to promptly and I feel comfortable asking questions.
There are lots of links between the modules I do through university and the role I perform at GSK. This means I have a better understanding of the different parts of my job.
There are lots of team lunches, networking events and opportunities to socialise with others. It is a very inclusive workplace!
