Involvement in supporting the delivery of commercial transactions as well as supporting the build out of the teams portfolio. I have gained in-depth knowledge of various commodity contracts to be able to advise optimal allocations. I have built up extensive knowledge of the commodity markets in a crucial time where many players were introduced as well as many whom retired alongside constant involvement with origination and trading teams to learn what structures and indexes maximize the value to the trading books.
I thoroughly enjoy the school leaver programme at bp as it allows you to rotate around different areas of the business and learn so much as you're gaining real life experience with some of the best teams in the world on actual deals, there is no special treatment or holding you back for you being a school leaver.
The programme is very well setup ensuring each rotation is different and specifically chosen so the candidate can learn as much as possible during their tenor on the scheme as well as ensuring they are given a role that is chosen to suit their goals and aspirations. Each year of the scheme has a specific learning plan of courses to ensure there is no overload of learning but to ensure you learn the correct things at the right stage of your development.
bp as a company have numerous schemes and programmes to support their employees both mentally and financially as well as some for their teams to just enjoy, on a day to day basis, the culture in bp is amazing, very understanding and allows you to have a perfect work/life balance
bp gives amazing support to those who are training, there are numerous pre recorded learning materials and live sessions where you have the opportunity to learn and aid your development ands recap on areas you may have missed as well as teams being very supportive to lighten your workload to study for exams and assessments.
The learning you do during your tenor on the apprenticeship aids heavily in your day to day role, the training and learning is linked directly to real world scenarios taught by real employees from your area of the business and so the learning you take away can always be applied to your role
There is always the opportunity to do extra curricular activities at bp, there are many socials planned within your rotation teams as well as with your fellow early talent committee members, there are numerous sports teams at bp. Bear in mind you will always make friends with whom you can plan stuff with outside of workdays too!
Yes
The learning opportunities are endless, there is such a great work/life balance, there is such a great culture in the way that you will very rarely if ever have a bad day in the office or a bad interaction with your colleagues, bp invests heavily in their workforce and so they really try to develop your skillset massively and there are so many great benefits to ensure that you are happy both inside and outside of the workplace.
bp appreciates those who are willing to learn the industry and develop their own skillset in order to become the best version of themselves as well as those who are willing to represent the company for the better. The simple analytical and commercial skills are of course necessary but bp are willing to train and develop those hard skills and industry knowledge to the best of their ability to ensure they build and develop strong team members.
