Managing team to deliver new equipment solutions for in store environment changes and product changes. Planning and delivering format projects for new stores, right sizes, smaller projects or store environment changes
so far yes, learnt new skills in time management and management of self. Learnt more around importance of feedback to improve and how to action this. How to be more self aware.
i am really enjoying the programme so far. I am finding it challenging but also it is enabling me to have a better work life balance by using the methods i have learnt so far around time management. This has improved my diary day to day
very, set deadlines, meetings sent at the beginning of the programme with the meeting reminder/invite in 4 weeks prior. Allows me to manage my time around what i need to do for when
Manager is very supportive, regular one to ones to discuss progress and how they can help and support, does not disturb time booked out for training and development and allows me to do what i need to do. Shows an interest in the work i am submitting and what i am learning.
Coach is always on hand to support where required. She will book time in if i need to discuss anything between the regular reviews that are diarised at key points anyway. very knowledeable and able to advise if i am unsure.
So far, i am only in the second module but the first couple of modules have made a huge difference to the way i work and how i manage my day. I never had time in my diary for development or anything else as i was always in meetings or busy doing task but by using techniques learned, i have planned development time, free time in my diary and i am able to finish work at a reasonable time just by changing the way i approach things and thinking about them different using time management techniques
There are things like this set up but i do not live local to the office so i do not get involved in these other than planned team days when we all get together to do things. There is networking events, specifically recently they have started women in leadership circles which i am looking into.
Yes
In general this is a great place to work. There are many opportunities to learn and grow on a daily basis. My work is varied and no one day is the same which keeps it interesting and challenging but also we have so many training and development avenues to explore, not just with apprenticeships but there are multiple courses ran internally and training programmes to get involved with.
It is an enjoyable experience working for B&Q, challenging, busy and exciting but once you have joined and become part of the B&Q family, it is a place you don't want to leave. Many of us started with just temporary jobs in store and are here many years later.
