I currently work as a client service advisor on the global team, and so my day-to-day activities involve tending to client queries via emails or calls, working with colleagues to prepare documents for policy renewals and several other tasks.
So far, my excel and word skills have improved a lot since the job requires me to use them regularly and I'll always pick up small tricks from colleagues or on the internet that helps speed up the process of a task.
I really enjoy the programme so far, everyone at the company is welcoming and heavily invested in training you to develop which makes me feel supported in learning how to do my role and when carrying out tasks which require taking on a bit more responsibility.
The programme is really easy to follow, the 18 months learning scheme has been pre-planned by the learning providers and they're really flexible with deadlines if you are busy with the actual role. My team have created a personalised structure around my training in my role which has also supported my development.
On a daily basis, I receive a lot of support from my employer with scheduled one-to-one training sessions as well as regular catch ups with my mentor and manager which means they're always providing support to understand what I've learnt so far and what else I need to be trained on.
The training provider offers a lot of support when it comes to the exams and making sure to follow the planned schedule over the 18 months so as to not fall behind and are understanding when these deadlines cannot be met which has been really useful.
The qualification at first didn't seem to relevant since I only did the first exam, but moving onto my next one the content definitely seems a lot more relevant to my job role and because of what I have studied, I can pick up on terms used by colleagues or clients more easily.
There are a lot of activities available such as BRGs, which are groups you can join in aon that will run events and is a great way to get to meet other people in the company. As well as this, there are frequent social events that are accessible to all employees.

Working at Aon so far has been an amazing experience as you'll find everyone in the company is generally quite chill and friendly as well as really open to talking to you so it's always easy to have a conversation with someone.
It is always useful to get some relevant experience and look up the company on linkedin or google just to understand what the organisation does, that'll help you explain why you want to join.
