    8/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am learning how to use various parts of the AutoDesk Suite, as well as learning more about the world of water and the built construction environment.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying everything that my employer offer, there's a lot of support and guidance.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • LSP have not seemed to be very organised with this course from the beginning. We are expecting to pass an exam in 3D CAD without them actually teaching it. Fortunately my employer is proividing the help I need, but it's not exactly ideal. The was also a lot of instability at the beginning, it felt like the staff didn't really know what they were doing. There doesn't seem to be any uniformed way of teaching from class to class, I noticed this when we had to join another class for a couple of weeks due to us not having an assigned teacher at the time.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I always receive a lot of support from my employer.

    9/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Some. Our lecturer has offered more availability and is there for one-to-one revision sessions if needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It doesn't. The course I am taking has pretty much nothing to do with the role I am currently in, apparently that's just the course one takes when doing this type of job. I'm learning more about construction sites than I am my actual industry, plus my job is using 2D and 3D design software, and this course doesn't teach it at all.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • All the time, and I have had the pleasure of being able to get involved in a few of them.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Severn Trent to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The company is an amazing place to work. The benefits they offer would be difficult to match. I'm happy with my salary as an apprentice, and the amount of support and guidance avenues available is astounding. They also provide a lot of training for various skills. I couldn't recommend Severn Trent Water more as a place to work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Severn Trent?
  • Be yourself, that's the main thing. Don't worry too much about your skill level when applying for an apprenticeship, you will learn it on the job. Show how driven, enthusiastic, and willing to learn you are. They are very accepting and supportive of all walks of diversity, medical conditions, neurodiversity etc. so try not to let any of this stop you from applying.
