Planning and improving the manufacturing processes used and designing tooling and fixtures needed, trying to produce the best quality components more efficiently. I produce reports and presentations to support my designs to show the need for an updated process.
Improved CAD skills, project management, presentation skills as well as lean manufacturing techniques. as there is also a practical machining appreciation part where I have learnt a variety of techniques that aid my job
It provides a number of different challenges that are fun and entertaining to solve. The people all really friendly and nice to work with
There is a good learning structure at the college and plenty of work that can be undertaken as part of your site placements
you get monthly catch-ups with managers and there is a great pastoral team that can help address and solve any issues
There is plenty of feedback on assignment and a chance to submit early for them to be returned with comments before final submission
It provides you with all of the necessary skills needed along with the industry experience to excel as an ME
AWE has a cricket and football team, along with plenty of outreach and events available to attend throughout your career
Yes
its something different and offers lots of unique opportunities and projects to complete
get through the security checks and you'll be fine, its a lot of being slowly introduced to the systems and practices we use at first
