I am a project controls apprentice and am currently going round the business in placements to get experience with planning, estimating, cost engineering, and a few other roles involved in project controls.
I have continued to improve my interpersonal skills and communications methods. I have also learnt specific software and programmes related to the specific areas I have been placed in.
I am enjoying the process and am becoming more competent in each role as time goes on.
Structure could be improved in terms of communications and giving plenty of notice but other than that I have no complaints and what is expected of me is always clear.
I receive all the help I feel i need and feel comfortable reaching out to the right people when required.
My college is great at supporting me and I am very pleased with the care and effort taken by the tutors. I know any issues or questions I have will be taken seriously and they will aid me to get anything sorted.
Very well. I have had evidence in my workplace that the combination of the two work well and what I learn at college is matching to the work I am carrying out in the workplace.
Work are keen on social events and I have been to some both with the other apprentices and with my closer placement teams.
Yes
The healthy work environment and the people you get to collaborate with makes it an enjoyable place. The work is flexible and can work for your lifestyle and it has a great sense of job security. I also feel the prospect to work up the company is a very viable option.
Trust the process and be patient. Reach out to awe contacts if ever unsure on what steps you should be taking to make the process quicker if possible. If any documents are required from you during this time I would suggest to get them done as soon as possible in order to not halt the start to any key processes starting.
