I worked as an auditor associate at PwC which involved sitting with my team and completing spreadsheets to assist with the audit of a particular client. I was often given coaching from people more senior in my team and then was given the independence to complete the tasks on my own, always with the option to ask for help from my team. We also had daily catch up calls to check our progress throughout the audit.
I am now fluent at the majority of functions on Excel, including vlookup, datasnipper, iferror, equations etc. I also learned how to use our internal audit software and client software.
I thoroughly enjoyed my first placement and am looking forward to returning next January. I was always given adequate coaching and found it very easy to settle into the company and learn what I needed to be doing. After a while I felt like I was fluent at the job I was given, but could always rely on my team to help if I had any questions.
The programme is very well organised and our instructions on our first day were very clear, which made it very easy to settle in. Due to the size of the company, it was important to explain that it was my first ever placement in audit to my team, but once i had they were extremely understanding and helpful.
I received a huge amount of support from my team, which I was hoping for at such a large company. There are also several channels to report issues or uncertainties within the company, which were made clear to us within the first week.
We received a fair bit of support, however the degree and the work are separate therefore it isnt really applicable here.
very well, it is very good to get the practical experience to understand how the content i am revising is applied in the real world.
yes, i have joined the running club, and we have a corporate race which i was allowed to enter in the summer (even though i will no longer be on placement, which shows the inclusion of the company). This has enabled me to meet new people from other parts of the firm.
Yes
They are a fantastic company to work for and it has been an amazing experience working here for a short time, and i am looking forward to returning to the company next year.
Embrace the company philosophy when applying and give your best effort, be positive with others and try and lead where you can.
