Caring for children with special educational needs and helping them with their day to day tasks. Assistant them with using the toilet, doing activities, helping with communication, emotional support, encouragement. I also helped with the day to day running of the classroom and taking over lessons. I helped the class teacher with planning and doing the assessments.
I have learnt more on how to deal with difficult behaviour, the children’s different needs, different ways of communication, how to do lesson planning, how to do end of year assessments, children inputs, photo assessments, different academic levels, how to do risk assessments, the use of PECS and communication boards.
I did enjoy majority of my programme snd constantly learning new things. I did find it hard at times managing my working hours and also having to do my coursework. I had a lot of support and the people i worked in class with was amazing which made my programme more enjoyable.
I found it very well structured. I always knew when my classes were and what coursework i had and when it was due in. My teacher was always on hand to help me if i needed it and always offered extra classes if i needed them. My work place was very supportive as well.
I received a lot of support with my work and coursework and managing it all with also having a young child. I was always asked of there was anything more they could help and support me with.
