During a normal day, I would either attend site with a fellow colleague and complete various tasks such as MEP audits or completing works such as replacing or installing new systems. The days I am in the office I would complete college work and any other work such as metering trees or asset registers.
I have developed several new skills and developed and furthered my existing skills. Communication skills have especially improved this includes in person or via email. Other skills like problem solving and working in a team have also improved a lot since joining in September 2023. Also have taken a lot of responsibility already for projects for example 21 Moorfields.
I have enjoyed the programme a lot so far as I am learning something new every day whether this is during college on Tuesdays or whether it is at work completing new tasks in the office or on site with a colleague. I also get to learn from my colleagues past experiences.
My programme is very well structured as I always have work that needs to be completed with a deadline attached to it. I also have a schedule for each week so that my colleagues know what I am doing so we can include various different jobs that may have not done yet. Also every Tuesday I am at college.
I receive plenty of support from a employer when required as I have been assigned a mentor as well which helps as I can ask them any questions I may have.
I receive loads of support from my training provider as they give us any resources we may need to further our knowledge which helps us work towards our qualifications.
I feel like this qualification is well suited to help me perform better in my role as it allows me to have a great overall understanding of engineering as it covers building services this involves mechanical, electrical and public health.
There are several social and networking events that occur at work and through CIBSE which allows me to speak to multiple people and build relationships. This helps me with understanding a better understanding of this line of work.
Yes
I would recommend Troup Bywaters + Anders to a friend because as an apprentice, all my colleagues go out of their way to help me proceed with my career and everyone works together which results a happy and health working environment. Also, being an apprentice most days are different as I am constantly with various people and at different sites.
The advice I would give to other applying for Troup Bywaters + Anders is to research about the company as they have multiple awards which shows how good this organisation is. Also, when researching about TB+A it will show you how impressive their portfolio is.
