  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day job involves counter/ till service withdrawals, transfers etc... Front of house work - Discussing with customers their accounts, general account activities and booking savings appointments as well as registering bereavements and Power of Attorneys and finally Savings Desk which entails opening new account and reinvesting large amounts of money.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot about banking and managing money. Accounts and rules for savings and current accounts, switch incentives and about the process when dealing with deceased members and struggling members. I have also developed my customer service skills even more.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The apprenticeship programme was enjoyable to begin with I enjoyed allotted time to work from home to revise and prepare for my exam however, once the exam had been completed the apprenticeship feels rather lacklustre and not completely necessary for this second part.

    6/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the apprenticeship is laid out with ease but the way it is to be completed could be seen as rather confusing, this is due to completing the exam and gaining the qualification to then continuing for less apparent reasons.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My colleagues are very supportive and are always happy to help with any questions I may have and my managers are always there with an open door for me to go and discuss any queries or struggles I may be having.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider offers good support. my tutor is only an email away and does tend to reply when he can. I have no complaints towards my tutor and he has been supportive.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe it has given me a great insight into the banking world over the past 20/30 years and ha allowed me to have discussions with members that I otherwise would not have been able to have as effectively as I would have liked.

    9/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Nationwide offer some great events here involving Charity work and supporting Member relationship managers who attend events based on how to manage money for school children and football clubs youth teams.

    8/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Nationwide to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Nationwide offers great incentives and benefits that make them a great company to work for and the staff are all lovely and a privilege to work with.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nationwide?
  • I would advise to join as a normal customer representative first without the apprenticeship as this appears less stressful and more rewarding for the pay.
