  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I handle the operations and logistics concerning all of the vehicles in the South East fleet. This includes bookings (for example MOTs or repairs), ordering all documentation (for example V5s, Ve103Bs, UK and EU insurance, fuel cards, breakdown instructions), logistics of which vehicle needs to go where and for what time, taking new car deliveries, updating documents when processes and procedures change, and much more.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills, this includes learning how to efficiently sort which vehicles have to be taken to which garages for what times. I have got really efficient at the logistics side of the job role and so vehicles are moved around quickly and easily. I have also improved my skills of creating simple and easy to follow documents for processes such as breaking down in a vehicle.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the apprenticeship programme because it is helping me conduct research into my workplace and organisation. I have conducted research about my organisation and examined how my team impacts the organisation, whether this is directly or indirectly. So far, it has been very interesting and it is helping me improve in my job role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well structured, this is mainly because I am set simple to follow tasks in batches (or phases) at a time. This helps give structure and helps me to complete the tasks because I am set tasks which impact each other at the same time. It is also organised because it is all set out on the OneFile website for me to see.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received a lot of support from my employer throughout my apprenticeship. I have both an apprenticeship manager and a line manager and they are both very supportive, both in my apprenticeship and my day to day job role. This helps me progress in both sides of my employment and helps me improve on my qualities and make a bigger impact.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in. This includes: Football matches, social activities with teams, shadow days to learn more about the organisation. These activities are very important in the workplace because they allow for staff to bond and even to learn the organisation. There is always an activity available to sign up to.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Home Office to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a good organisation to work for. There has been support from people in my organisation since my first day working at the Home Office, and there is always support if I ever need it. Whether the support is for my job role or for my mental health, I do not have to look far to find it.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Home Office?
  • I would give advise like prepare for the interview. You should always prepare for interviews and it helps to ease your nerves and helps you to be yourself and stand out. I would also give the advice that they should be outgoing and hard working when applying, this helps you standout.
