On a day to day basis I shadow technicians and study each section of the business. I am given multiple placements through out my time as an apprentice which allows me to learn multiple different sections and broaden my knowledge. I usually get to take a hands on approach.
In my time as an apprentice I have managed to develop many new skills that are relevant to my job. I have been taught many new things about electrical systems, which is something that I didn't know much about at the start.
My apprenticeship allows me to work on various different aspects of engineering which I very much enjoy. I also get to work with loads of different technicians from various different backgrounds, which I enjoy as it allows me to ask lots of questions about different sectors.
In general the apprenticeship is structured, as we have a calendar with all our rotations in and can always ask what's coming up. However sometimes things come up that hasn't been discussed prior and sometimes its a bit of a rush to finish.
Any problems that come up can always be brought up to mentors and supervisors, and everyone always checks to see where we are within our apprenticeship and how were getting on
I receive a lot of support from my training providers and they are always very helpful with my assignments.
My qualifications is very relevant to my role as a maintenance technician. I have been able to learn about multiple different sections of maintenance and been taught how to work on each one safely.
There are various different activities that we as apprentices have to attend, aside from our standard jobs. We attend many different events throughout each year at cummins and perform lots of community outreach. We often help local schools and fund projects for them, and remain in contact with them as the project is on going.
Yes
I have recommended cummins to many friends as I believe they are good employers that provide lots of opportunities to further yourself and career.
