On my Apprenticeship I rotated around teams and spent a month in each team seeing what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go. I also had one work from home day to focus on the tests that Firebrand provide.
I have learnt a variety of skills during my apprenticeship, so much so that I went from having no IT experience whatsoever, to being able to handle most jobs my 2nd line team give me all through knowledge I built through the apprenticeship.
I enjoyed my programme so much as I was very well paid, the colleagues are great and very helpful throughout the apprenticeship and no one has refused to help, only unless they are busy, then they will try to find time, also IT is very interesting for me.
The managers are good and it is organised but you are mostly left to do your own things in regards to passing your apprenticeship, we did have weekly meetings to update on what we have done the past week working from home.
We receive a lot of support through our employer, I have been showed countless discounts and helpful information though the intranet and BT's HR is also very helpful.
I got a 3 day course and got access to Pluralsight which is very helpful, but we did get 3 days with the lecturer and on the 3rd day we take the test, so it is better than not getting any help but not the best.
I have a lot of knowledge and what to do in certain situations and where to look because of my apprenticeship but now, it is about performing these tasks in line with what i already know, i know what do do through the apprenticeship now I'm learning how to perform them.
BT is part of a lot of networking events like association of apprentices, also they throw there own big one at the beginning of the apprenticeship, also they throw there won Christmas parties and at our office have random Chinese nights or leavers nights which are great social events to network with the rest of the office
Yes
Because they are a great employer and people at BT usually stay, they have great benefits countless discounts, great pention pay, and great career path and salary, BT invest a lot of time and effort into you and make sure that your skills develop.
Make sure that you look smart for the interviews, as they are online, once you get through to the stage where you have to interview for a day, they will test you so get to know some general facts and goals on what BT does as a whole as they will ask you what you think on certain things and get you working in a group of two, so make sure you know what they are talking about when they ask you. Come prepared for the general questions like tell me a time when you had to do this etc.
