Line HR Apprentice involves supporting with the new hire process, leaver process and any changes to an employee's terms and conditions to their contracts such as promotions, flexible working and change of work location or supervisor just to name a few.
I have developed my communication skills and the confidence to be able to communicate to different people, no matter their status in the hierarchy. At first it's a little daunting leaning a new company, the values, culture, business and processes but now as I have found my feet a little, I feel as though I can take on more responsibility and I'm not afraid to ask questions - which is sometimes what you need in HR, to be curious and inquisitive.
I enjoy constantly learning and developing myself within the workplace, but sometimes I do find it hard to put what I learnt at College into practice as sometimes I just feel like the assignments are just a case of writing and answering the questions.
I would say it it is organised, in terms of we know what we are learning in advance, there's always learning objectives set in college for the session and my college tutor plans onsite meetings with me in advance to talk about development. However I do think that the Smart Assessor could be explained a little better and the off the job hours, because I have never done an Apprenticeship, I think assumptions would've been made that we know what to do but I've never done an apprenticeship so haven't had this exposure.
I receive really good support at work when completed work tasks, I also receive support with college work and college assignments.
I also receive good support from the training provider, they provide 1-1 sessions and always gives the session in a different way such as group work, making presentations, individual work, role plays. I do think that the sometimes the tutor doesn't quite know accurate details such as hand in dates or which AC we are learning which can be a little frustrating.
I do feel like the information that we are told relates to my role, however the assignments are all the same way such as a report answering a load of questions therefore you're not really presenting and showing what you have learnt.
There is EEEC which stands for Ever Employee Ever Community where the company would like every employee to give back to the community with a minimum of 4 hours being used within work time to spend volunteering locally. There is also Employee Resource Groups such as Pride, Womens Empowerment Network and New Starter Network which helps networking and interacting.
