Day to day I'm working on developing my lab skills and learning in-depth what my team does.
I have learnt a lot of new skills, specifically lab ones but also worked on my soft skills, like networking and presenting.
I really enjoy this programme
The structure is quite good, I have been given a lot of flexibility within work, uni is also well organised as you know what's coming up and how to prepare for it, with easy contact to professors if you have any questions.
I receive a lot of support, I have a mentor who I can always go to, I also had a buddy at the beginning of my apprenticeship who helped me settle in. My manager is also super helpful and easy to communicate with. We also have apprentice support groups.
We receive a fair bit of support, we have 2 seminars every module which help with content and we have drop in sessions with our professors to have more 1-2-1 time, we can always email them too if we have any burning questions.
Through learning the science at uni, I have been able to contribute to meetings more and understand what kind of things are going on around me. It helps that the content usually aligns to at least one thing that I'm doing or I've done at work.
Yes, we have an apprentice society which organises loads of events every month which every apprentice is invited to, We have different clubs you could join eg, the journal club. As well as many apprentice support groups and ERGs you can get involved in.
Yes
It's an amazing company with so many opportunities and it's filled with people who all have a passion for science. Everyone is super supportive and it's a great environment for apprentices to learn and flourish into their future careers.
Do you research on the values and how you have showcased those values in your work, life, school etc.
