Every day is different, If there is an accident or safety concern on the site then my priority would be to focus on finding a solution for the incident. However I also deal with Risk assessments (sending them and completing them), TOPS Tours, Management actions and well being and health
Yes absolutely, previously I had never worked in a office environment, since joining I have learnt: communication skills, Time management, problem solving, how to programme Excel spreadsheets. I am still developing and constantly trying improve my skills such as hazard spotting. Since joining I have learnt and developing presentation skills.
Although some days are challenging and some topics are hard to get my head around, I am constantly learning and have got a great support team. I am enjoying learning topics and skills that I would have never been able to do before hand. I am enjoying building reports with different members of staff.
With me being the first to do a health and safety apprenticeship, there has been times where we haven't been as structured and have had to delay work or missed work. However from it starting unstructured we are trying different methods to add more structure in and prioritise certain work.
My employer supports me where possible, however as part of my role it is important for me to reach out to different departments so I can build a relation with them and seek there advise in there own expertise. I also get involved and monitor a lot of projects or meetings to help expand my knowledge.
With it being online it is hard compared to at college/uni where you could just raise your hand and ask, however my knew learning coach has helped push me more and given more support and book more one to one meetings to go over work or help improve my work to get better marks.
With alot of my work I implement it into what I do, for example when we were studying a specific regulation I then went and implemented it within my role at work. It has also helped me to improve things on my site with the knowledge I have developed.
I do a lot of sports and gym outside of work so haven't really made the time to see if my work place does. There has been different challenges such as Kaido, or step challenges with help get people engaged and active.
