I am an apprentice in the Global Markets division. I typically start work at 06:30/07:00 and finish at 17:00. No day looks the same!
I am constantly learning and being presented with new challenges.
As much as I have learnt a lot, balancing a degree, working long hours, completing the CFA L1 and a level 6 apprenticeship is impossible. There is a severe lack of communication across the various stakeholders and I am constantly battling with inconsistent information. Simple questions can never be answered because no one knows who is responsible for running the programme!
The support is poor. Issues are rarely addressed and you are left chasing for answers.

The apprenticeship programme is a great opportunity on paper and but currently lacks structure and sufficient support. There is a severe lack of communication between line managers, business sponsors and HR. The programme lacks consistency and feedback has never been acted upon (based on my experience). Whilst it’s a great opportunity to learn, it certain isn’t a way of getting ahead - you’re best off joining as a graduate for countless reasons!
