  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • It varies (which is a good thing!) for example one day I might be preparing a claim, during which my managers usually asks me to do quick hour long jobs throughout the day on various other clients. I go on site surveys which include going to the client site and getting evidence of types of assets within the property i'm workin on. There's also college, training sessions at the office or in residential trips, working for a variety of teams in tax, researching companies, business development, land valuations and preparing different types of claims using various software

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Defiantly confidence and public speaking as I have to do some presentations and promote the scheme i'm doing. Talking with lots of different people of different ages helps my communication skills. I think I've just developed as a person overall and enjoy doing things I never thought I would!

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy it (more than I expected to be honest.) it's quite a demanding job but I've made friends that are just as good as friends I would've made at uni. The programme is good in the way it lets me achieve my ACA qualification and gain lots of experience on the job.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Deloitte?
  • Very! There's always lots of events and free socials that Deloitte put on. We also have feedback sessions after most peices of work where you're told how much a help you were and what you did well etc. I think it depends though, I feel very valued because i'm in quite a small team (TD) in a large company which is the best I think!

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the experience and working on the job is great because you're treated with lots of responsibility so it feels like you've been working there years already! However, I don't like that the exams are done at a much slower pace to the graduates because it means you can't form strong relationships with them (even though they're your own year group) because they're at college at lot in first year. Therefore you end up being much closer with other people on your scheme, which isn't bad in Manchester because it's a big office so there's a few of us, but I guess it would be worse in a smaller office.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I assume my training provider is Kaplan who teach us about the exams and during the exams they were great (but I've only done 3 up to now.) At Deloitte they also send us on Tax training sessions (if you're in tax) which are residential trips. I've been on 2 of those, each lasted a week, and also a specific one for TD. So there's lots on offer!

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As I said above they send you on several training events. The partner who i'm under Is great! I was sent on a secondment to leeds as soon as I joined (which is very unusual) but they have a been very supportive!

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • To be honest, at my age I don't really need lots of money and work pay for quite a bit. The only thing that annoys me is that the new graduates are on a significantly higher wage when we do the exact same work!

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • If you're in london then yes there's lots! In Manchester there's things like Pilates and quite a bit at weekends like fun days or runs etc. There's a Christmas and summer ball. End of the months is the main one though!

  • 9. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a great company and I've met lots of lovely people and friends. I love the fact that it's made me so much of a better and more confident person too!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Be prepared for the interviews. Think of typical questions that they might ask you. Stay calm and just be calm and confident (but not cocky!)
