I assess the cost and viability of low carbon projects by pricing schemes that E.ON develop from feasibility stages. I support design teams by providing a commercial view on the plant selections and support delivery teams my valuing risks and programme durations.
I have developed my skills in the duration of completing my apprenticeship, however I realised that I had already learned a significant amount throughout my career. The course provided my with the opportunity to use software that I hadn't used previously which gave me an appreciation of contractors scope.
I enjoyed the programme but found the amount of assignments difficult to manage alongside my daily workload. I found the practical content for surveying was interesting but thought the apprenticeship would have benefited from more time using the CAD Software to reflect the findings.
The organisation of the apprenticeship wasn't great, this was due to staff shortages and new staff members delays with Visa's. This caused tighter deadlines and less time spent on subjects than the guided learning hours. Whilst this was an issue the college head did try to to find ways to manage these issues.
I had a good amount of support from my line manager, and members of my team, who reviewed my content prior to submission. The was also an opportunity to take on additional responsibilities in my role which supported my apprenticeship.
I had a good level of support from my training provider when completing assignments and throughout the duration of the exams and was also given an extension to help me manage my daily workloads.
The qualification helped me to better understand surveying by giving me "hands-on" experience in roles that would have been conducted by contractors as well as internal design teams. This helps me to improve the accuracy of time estimates and better establish the time related costs.
E.ON have a lot of professional networking events but I am not sure about sports teams or social events.
Yes
I have worked for E.ON for around 15 years and the company has always been very supportive of it's employee by giving the opportunity for professional development and understands the value and importance of learning new skills.
