Learning how to carry out preventiative maintenance and responive repair with technicians by shadowing and getting hands on experience out on the job.
Have learnt to fault find electrical systems. Understand pressure systems. Understand mechanical systems and a high range of varying assets at the airport.
Hugely enjoy learning how equipment work, learning how to carry out activities and what to do in the event of a failure.
Very well organised by my line manager. Good communication from all parties and lots of support. Training centre however, had been unorganised this year.
My employer has given me lots of support though mentors, personal assistance and support from who we work with.
Training center has been tricky this year due to internal issues (eg. Staffing). However we have now got a more stable lecturer who is now assisting us with class work and assignments.
It provides us with a good set of foundation knowledge to understand whk more specialised equipment works. We also learn how to stay safe and makes it easier to learn about equipment at work.
Networking events and social activities. Plus a yearly team building trip and end of year event.
