On a day to day basis, my role consists of supporting the project managers on the projects that I have been assigned. This includes creating meeting agenda packs, taking minutes for meetings, helping to plan project timelines, maintaining project governance as well as other ad-hoc tasks.
I have learnt and developed many skills in the duration of my apprenticeship, such as: project management skills, time management, teamwork and effective communication. These are just a few examples of the skills that I have gained from this apprenticeship programme.
I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship programme as it allows me to develop my skills working on projects that are involved in various different parts of the business and gain experience working in a professional environment as well as gaining a qualification that will benefit me in my career.
My apprenticeship is very well structured as I am designated a 20% of my working hours a week to focus on my qualification work. Also, through my training provider QA, the timeline for my learning and exams and EPA (End Point Assessment) is clearly outlined which allows me to plan in advance my learning.
I have receive a lot of support in the duration of my apprenticeship programme from both the early careers team who very effectively inducted me into the business in addition to my team (Investment Change) who have been extremely supportive and instrumental to my development.
QA, my training provider for my qualification, provides a lot of support to working towards my qualification as they are regularly available when I have questions about tasks in addition to regular progress meetings being available to discuss what can be improved and if I need additional support.
The Level 4 associate project management qualification is very beneficial to my role as it provides the theory to how projects are managed which allows me to analyse the project to see what I can do to better support project delivery.
There are many extra-curricular activities and communities available at St. James's Place for employees. One of the activates that I have taken part in is the regular employee 6-aside football games. Additionally, my apprentice cohort regularly arrange social events together outside of work.

I believe St. James's Place is an amazing company to work for, as being the UK's largest wealth manager, you are able to meet a lot of different people with different roles to allow you to learn more about the financial industry and build connections. Furthermore, St. James's Place has created a friendly and caring environment and shows that it cares about their employees through the many ways of gaining support throughout the business and the many social activities and development opportunities available.
Advice I would give to anyone applying to St. James's Place is to research the company and role so that you are aware of the role you are applying for and what that consists of so that you prepared in the interviews and assessment centres, as well as researching the wider financial market.
