I am a first year apprentice working as a construction Manager Assistant. This involves me shadowing the construction managers on site to gain a understand and better knowledge of what my roles and responsibilities will be.
New skills I have learnt and developed is how to effectively and professionally communicate with my team and other subcontractors on site. I have also developed my on site knowledge and understanding of the works that are taking place.
I am enjoying the programme immensely. I appreciate having a look ahead of what the next couple of years have in store for me and what to expect.
The programme is very organised with not only what I do at my day to day job but also with the additional apprenticeship tasks such as the development sessions.
I receive all the support that I need from my employer. I am based with a team that are here to support me to get the best out of my apprenticeship and development my knowledge to the best that I can.
My training provider is there to support me when needed and have a check in meeting every three months were I can discuss any issues, concerns or support I may need.
My training provider gives me the qualification I need to get to where I want to be, a construction manager.
We try to have a team building activity every couple of weeks were we can discuss anything were feeling or doing at work or in our personal life away from the site. We also tend to do regular activities with our subcontractors.
