As a Auditor every day is different, its all dependant on the client who you are doing work on. The majority of days start with traveling to the client, when at the client my work is based around testing financial statement balances, such as Cash, Stock, Revenue. However on some clients controls testing is performed where I look at the processes and if they are adequate for the business.
I have learnt lots of skills during my time so far, such as skills relating to difficult clients to technical audit related skills. I also attend College to study for my ACA, which will give me my chartered accountants status upon completion.
I enjoy my job mainly down to the people I work with, all of my colleges are friendly and chatty during work, as each client has a different team I have got to meet so many people from all around the country and I have also worked along side the US firm. As you join with the graduates I've developed some friendships here and earlier in the year about half of us ran a 10km obstacle course.
For good work and the extra effort you can get rewarded in many different ways, in general staff that put the extra bit in both inside and outside of client work get recognised and appropriately rewarded.
The induction process is very structured and ensures you are fully ready for the client site. College is also very structured and revision is taken into account by your manager during this period. The team hierarchy is also very clear and its obvious what needs doing to get promoted.
We receive lots from out tuition partner including contact numbers and emails for question, a bank of exam questions, along side an online environment full of information and quizzes.
The attitude is very much towards passing the exams as a personal priority, during exam times there's a lot of support, as all of the other staff have also gone through the same experience there's a lot of understanding with the pressures and help from your managers and peers,
I can afford to live away from my parents and have enough disposable income to be happy on a day to day basis as all of my work travel is reimbursed travel client work does not bother me.
There are lots of opportunities outside of work to get involved with the social responsibility of the role, I also get a chance to play hockey outside of work regularly
Yes
Its a great company with lots of chances to learn and progress. The scheme has allowed me to learn lots and make great friends and I can see that long term such a prestigious name on my CV will help me progress in my career.
Don't over think your application form, this always seems like the hardest thing to do! Always remember in the interviews to be relaxed, let your personality show, this well help relax you and keep calm (I also advise water before an interview rather than coffee!)
