I work on several of my own Projects, Projects with other Project Managers and occasionally Ad hoc tasks during my office hours, then one day a week I study for my University degree by completing courseworks and assignments.
Yes, I have developed massively so far on my communication skills, I have built my confidence and have learnt effective project management tools as well as building upon my IT skills such as Excel, PowerPoints.
I really enjoy managing my own projects, although a little daunting, I feel as though I could be supported more when starting my projects and shadowing a little would greatly help me improve, however there are still positives to my line manager having confidence in me to deliver and produce on my own projects. The university work I find too much workload to complete effectively in just 1 day, and some of the essays can be monotonous.
It is clearly organised in terms of my university course, and my office work with Toyota GB has a clear structure, with annual reviews and development plans to ensure progression and promotion at later stages.
My line manager has quarterly and annual reviews with me, although we both agree that I should be communicating with them more frequently on the status of my projects and my overall development/ need for help.
We have 8 weekly reviews with themselves and my line manager, and I reach out via emails whenever in doubt or need any support.
I feel very strongly that my university degree (in Project Management) greatly supports my performance as a PM, and shows me the tools, knowledge, skills and behaviours utilised to be a successful PM.
yes many, theres a sports& social club (which I am yet to sign up for) that enrols members in plentiful of activities weekly and Bi-weekly.
