By harnessing the power of technology and data at our smart manufacturing sites, we are getting vaccines and medicines of the highest quality standard to those who need them faster. Think robots, Machine Learning and AI; they are giving us new ways to deliver at speed to get ahead of disease. Currently, I am applying my Python skills to automate processes (making them more efficient) and getting to know different people, their roles and opportunities available within the biopharmaceutical industry.
My confidence has grown and I am improving my communication skills. Everyone here is very approachable. Being in a supportive environment enables my personality to flourish and aids development of my technical and professional skills.
I put a lot of research into my options after Sixth Form. Work experience helped confirm I have chosen the correct job for my skills and preferred industry for my interests. I have found a job that I enjoy working everyday. I am happy in my apprenticeship and feel empowered to make the most of my opportunity. The fully-funded qualification and work experience that comes with an apprenticeship will not go to waste. I feel inspired and am able to look ahead in terms of future career prospects.
The course delivered by my training provider is very well structured and organised. Despite being a remote, part-time student, I have never had any issues regarding communication. My experience with the GSK Apprentice programme so far has been very positive.
There is a strong sense of community within GSK's Early Talent. I have am friends with graduates, industrial placement students and fellow apprentices from sites nationwide. The Apprentice Leads are always there for support. I am well supported in my personal and professional development by my manager and wider team.
Tutors are always on hand for any queries I may have. The way they approach help and feedback is ensured fair for the whole cohort. My training provider welcomes feedback; I feel that my voice is heard as a student.
I had no prior technical experience required for my role before I joined as an apprentice. The skills I am learning for my degree align very closely to those I need in the workplace.
There are Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) established in GSK at both a site-wide and global level. You are welcome to set up a lunchtime or after work club. I have benefitted from development opportunities such as extra training, networking events and internal and external conferences.
