1. Boeing 777 aircraft tour 2. Simulator room quick walkthrough 3. Workshop room tour (including aircraft engines) 4. paper plane and pasta + marshmallow team building activities 5. Talks with senior BA staff 6. Talks with past graduated apprentices 7. BA apprentice programmes talk
I learned a bit about how the engineers work in BA and how often they may do plane checks, but I didn't learn much about how the engineers work and potentially what maths and physics will go behind all the hard work. I would have liked to have seen a bit more on actual details of engineering, including the maths and some of the procedures included
I did enjoy the actual aircraft and workshop tours and the talks with BA's senior staff, but I thought that the paper plane and tower building activities seemed a bit childish and perhaps didn't target what I wanted to get out of the day. Instead of those activities (paper planes + tower building), I may have preferred to maybe do some more complex problem solving. The big thing I got out of the day however was the apprenticeship programmes, which are very important to me as they will be options for my future
It was very organised, everyone seemed to know what was going to happen for the day ahead. The only thing was maybe the time management, as we did run out of time for the aircraft tours
I learned that British Airways is a company where if your attitude is right, you can always get the job for you're looking for, not necessarily your grades determining if you get a job or not. But other than that, I didn't really get to see what the company culture would be like
The insight day has hugely told me about future opportunities at BA including degrees and apprenticeships
I wasn't paid and only had to pay a small amount for my lunch food
Yes, we were able to talk to many staff, with them openly answering our questions very well
Yes
There are many job opportunities here, with some allowing us to travel across the world
Attitude is everything, not necessarily our grades
