  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role involves travelling to client sites, discussing controls and procedures, testing balances such as Cash, Debtors, Fixed Assets, Payroll. On each job there will be a hierarchy from junior grades such as myself, to managers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • When you join you have a few weeks of learning to use the audit software, and what an audit involves, followed quickly by college for your first set of exams. To date I have sat 3 of my ACA exams.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Although the work is similar on each client, it can be vastly different depending on the industry of the client which keeps jobs interesting. There is constant social events, both formal and informal, and people tend to go out for drinks after work when in the office.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Deloitte?
  • There is a limelight scheme where if a colleague thinks you have performed particularly well on a client you are nominated for a reward and receive gift vouchers. Written feedback is obtained after every job, discussing areas your performed well in, and development points.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction is well structured and explain what to expect within your first few years. Everyone is allocated an exam manager, appraiser and a "buddy" when you join.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Kaplan the training provider is great, you can contact your tutor with any concerns upon finishing college, and can even schedule a session to elaborate on any topics you cannot get to grips with.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • When joining you are assigned a "buddy" who would have recently joined for any queries. In general, managers and HR are very visible, so would be easily contactable if needed.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary meets my living costs quite comfortably, after paying rent and bills I can afford luxuries and can even save some. Deloitte cover majority of travel expenses so this is not a problem

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There is constant volunteering and charity work within the office, and many sports teams to join. Weekly emails are circulated with more events to involve yourself in.

  • 9. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a great opportunity to get on the career ladder. I do not feel like I am missing out on the "University life"


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Rehearse for your interview, prepare for follow-up questions, and know about all the service lines!
