I process payroll for just over 630 employees every month. We have to upload our fixed and variable employees data to our payroll system, then do multiple checks to make sure everything is accurate. For example, we need to make sure all of our employees are above it by using NMW reports. We also do reconciliations for commission, bonuses, medical benefits etc so that we know nothing is missed.
I have developed skills in excel, as this is used everyday.
I enjoy this apprenticeship very much. I have learnt so much in the space of 8 months already, with the support of my supervisor and Smart Training. I can confidently say that I am able to process the payroll from start to finish, with little to no help from my supervisor.
I can say it is very well structured. 4 days a week I am strictly processing payroll, and then 1 day being a study day for my training and revision. One a month I have a workshop with my tutor from Smart Training, and then I would be assigned tasks based off of what I learned in that workshop.
My supervisor has trained me almost everything I needed to know in payroll and how to process everything each month. As it is coming up to one year of being employed at Enterprise, I am going to be doing a test based off of payroll. My supervisor has been a great help with this and has been setting me mini tests leading up to this.
Smart Training has been great during the apprenticeship, we have had monthly workshops where we will learn new topics in payroll and get set tasks for it. This has made a massive difference during the apprenticeship and I have learnt so much already. My tutor, Megan, is always happy to help out whenever I am confused with something and need some extra help.
The training provider has been teaching us everything we need to know for the qualification. This helps me perform better in my role as I have a much broader knowledge of the work I am doing.
I have joined the Business Management Social committee. This committee sets up events every month for business management to attend to and socialise with each other. It is also a great way to meet new people in the department.
