I process the pay for approx 650 employees. I input the payments/deductions for each employee into the payroll system each month. In addition to this I do several checks to make sure everything balances, answer queries and other ad hoc tasks.
I had never been involved in payroll before so I have learnt the whole processes for the job role. Alongside this I have been learning more about payroll through the apprenticeship lessons. I have also learnt how to use Excel to help gather information from several spreadsheets using Vlookup.
I have really enjoyed the workshops, where I have been able to gain lots of knowledge on the payroll processes. This has helped me in the job role as I am able to apply what I have learnt.
The course has been quite well structured and my tutor has responded to any query I have had promptly.
My employer has been very supportive, making sure that I am given time to complete my coursework. I am shortly due to take my end point assessments and my employer is giving me extra time for revision so that I have the best chance of gaining the qualification.
My tutor has been very supportive and encouraging. If I have a query, she is quick to respond, I am currently having revision sessions in preparation of the end point assessments.
The qualification gives me the knowledge behind the processes I perform, which helps me to understand the role better. It also helps me to be able to answer queries that I may receive.
There is an abundance of activities to get involved in within my workplace. There are committees to join and several fundraising and awareness activities as well as social events.

It is a great place to work with many opportunities to progress if that is something you are looking to achieve. It is a very welcoming company that cares about looking after it’s staff and helping them to succeed.
Research the company and its values. Think about what experiences you have had that you can bring to the company that will help to promote these values.
