I work on a variety of different systems, primarily utilising CAD to model parts to be manufactured and to edit pre-existing parts to fit an update to a part. Alongside this I work on internal data documents, data analysis for systems like air flow and restriction and spend a lot of my time learning or attending training classes.
I believe I have developed both new skills and existing skills. I have greatly improved my CAD skills, something I have used extensively in the past, and I find I am in an environment where my analytical and problem solving skills have been tested regularly to overcome roadblocks in project work. I have also learned a great deal about project work, something I didn't have that much exposure to before joining Cummins.
I thoroughly enjoy my program. I am learning new skills and improving my pre-existing ones, alongside working in an encouraging learning environment. I think most of the modules are enjoyable and interesting, but I find lectures aren't always my ideal form of learning so I would prefer if there were other avenues available for us to learn.
I think the programme is very well structured, but can sometimes be a bit confusing. We tend to spend a week starting and finishing one entire module, but earlier in the course we did two modules across two weeks, with half of each course done per week which I think was quite a confusing way of doing things. That being said, I think the modules are well structured and clear and, besides the earlier weeks, I find them very well organised overall.
I am given ample time to do revision or assessments for my university course if needed in the form of off-the-job hours, where I can spend time at work doing what I feel is necessary for my development outside of university. For me, I like to try spending some time every day making notes on the some of the material covered so that I have plenty of time to revise come exam time. I feel I am fully supported by my employer to do this.
I feel there is a very god level of support given by the university, mainly in emotional and mental heath support, and I feel that my lecturers are happy to discuss the material covered if I don't understand or need some more detail. I also find that there is a constant reminder that support is available if needed and it is clear where to find it.
Many things I am learning on my course are directly related to my everyday job at Cummins, so I feel my qualification development helps me significantly. Although I am not yet covering every facet of data analysis within the company, the tools I have been provided with by my course have greatly helped me to overcome some problems I've faced.
There are very regular team-building activities; events for religious celebrations or teambuilding exercises for instance. These opportunities are optional, but they are always enjoyable and well put together, and they offer and opportunity to meet individuals from other departments one might not interact with normally.

Cummins is the first company I have worked for where I, as an individual, feel appreciated and valued. There isn't a pressure to be exemplary when I haven't had much experience, the people I work with are friendly and supportive, there are constant learning opportunities and I feel that my time is well spent. I have chances to do individual project work and work as part of a team, I can work at ties best suited to me and I am provided with regular opportunities to improve my skills. I would without a doubt, recommend Cummins to anyone.
I believe that Cummins wants to see someone that is willing to work and learn, someone that is driven to improve themselves within the workplace and someone who wants to work with others. I believe Cummins values good communication and openness, alongside the ability to take responsibility and try to provide their opinion on the matter. I thoroughly believe that Cummins wants to give opportunities to people who want to bring their individuality and creativity to the table and who work to find the best solution possible.
