As a ground operations apprentice I am currently doing loading, as I am only short-haul trained I am based in terminal 5 and load and offload A320 family aircraft
I feel I've learnt new skills, I have a better understanding of the day to day operations of an airline
I enjoy the actual shifts and I feel like part of the team, but I don't really enjoy the coursework side of it I feel it's dragging on and it's getting quite repetitive. I feel I'm a bit behind and not getting the help I need as I feel it would be more helpful if the seetec tutors came in to give me a hand if I get stuck as at the moment we have to do it virtually and drop them an email if we need anything.
I feel its not very well structured, I feel it would have been better if seetec had planned the apprenticeship better. The original layout seemed pretty well planned out but because of the multiple change of tutors it's messed up the programme. We have had 5 or 6 different tutors and only 3 actually came in to assist us the rest have been virtual
I feel British Airways have supported us the best they can, being a massive company I don't think they can physically support us individually but i feel like part of the team and get treated like one of the team by the other employees and I'm quite happy with that
I feel they don't support me as much as they could, they have been in contact more recently as it's getting close to our EPA although the apprenticeship has already been extended by 6 months due to a delay in training so the apprenticeship technically finished last month
I feel the qualification has helped in the sense that this apprenticeship has helped get my foot in the door of the industry I want to work in.
There's sometimes fundraising events for their charities and they send out emails sometimes for support with events. I've done a couple of events advertising jobs at BA
Yes
I feel its a good way of getting your foot in the door for an aviation role and you can get the qualifications and skills you need for the job on the job
Try your best, work hard and have fun
